What is the Cookie Law?
It is Law No. 46/2012, of August 29, 2012, that transposes Directive No. 2009/136/EC, which amends Directive No. 2002/58/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, of July 12, concerning the processing of personal data and the protection of privacy in the electronic communications sector.
The objective of this law is to protect the personal data of a website visitor and to inform them of how their data is being used.
With the introduction of this law, all Portuguese websites that use cookies that are not essential for the provision of a service must inform the visitor.
